Objective:To investigate the effect of percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP)on the degree of trauma and spinal function in elderly patients with thoracolumbar fracture. Methods:The clinical data of 75 elderly patients with thoracolumbra and lumbar fractures were retrospectively analyzed and divided into percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP)group(n=30)and PKP group(n=45)according to treatment methods. The perioperative indexes and spinal function of the two groups were compared. Results:There was no significant difference in intraoperative blood loss and postoperative hospital stay between the two groups(P>0.05),but the operative time in PKP group was longer than that in PVP group, and the operative cost was higher than that in PVP group(P<0.05).VAS score in PKP group was lower than that in PVP group,JOA score was higher than that in PVP group(P<0.05).The height of anterior vertebral margin in PKP group was higher than that in PVP group(P<0.05).The bone cement leakage rate in PKP group was lower than that in PVP group(P<0.05).Conclusion:PKP in the treatment of elderly thoracolumbar fracture can reduce the rate of bone cement leakage, promote the recovery of vertebral height more effectively, and ensure the recovery of spinal function.
