Sputum discharge and disease recovery in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease using airway clearance technique with high quality nursing
Objective:To investigate the use of quality nursing care in airway clearance techniques for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(hereinafter referred to as"COPD")in terms of sputum expectoration and disease recovery.Methods:Eighty-three patients with COPD who were admitted to hospital were selected as the subjects of this study. The patients were grouped according to the random number table method,42 in the observation group and 41 in the control group.Control group received airway clearance technique intervention. The observation group received high quality care with airway clearance technique.Sputum output, dyspnea score, pulmonary infection time, mechanical ventilation time, hospital stay and complications were compared. Results:The sputum output of the observation group patients on the 3rd and 5th day after intervention was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).The difference in dyspnoea scores between the two groups before the intervention was not significant, and the dyspnoea scores after the intervention were lower than those before the intervention, and the dyspnoea scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The time of lung infection, time of mechanical ventilation and length of hospitalisation in the observation group were lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Complications in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of high quality nursing in airway clearance technology of COPD can promote sputum discharge, improve dyspnea symptoms, shorten mechanical ventilation time, lung infection time and hospital stay, promote the recovery of disease, and have a good preventive effect on complications.
