Professional learning community (PLC) is an important carrier for enhancing the professional development of teachers. To understand the status of PLC construction among teachers of ideological and political courses, a questionnaire-based survey was conducted among teachers from 28 schools of primary, secondary and tertiary education who teach ideological and political courses. The results show that the overall development level of PLCs is relatively good, but there are certain differences in the development level of ideological and political course teachers across indicators of gender, school segment, education level, teaching experience and region. To achieve high-quality development of PLCs, good top-level design should be implemented to innovate the forms of PLCs and enrich the content of their activities; the integration of theory and practice should be enhanced to strengthen the supportive conditions for the construction of rural PLCs; and restrictions should be broken up to enhance the construction of grassroots learning communities such as departmental teaching and research offices to promote the high-quality development of PLCs.
