The role of wnt/β-catenin Signaling Pathway in Pulmonary Fibrosis and its Regulation by Traditional Chinese Medicine
Pulmonary fibrosis(PF)is a fatal and irreversible respiratory disease that manifests excessively in the end-stage of interstitial lung disease and is characterized by damage and abnormal repair of alveolar epithelial cells, fibroblast proliferation, and excess extracellular matrix.Deposition and other pathological characteristics cause serious harm to human health and have become a public health problem threatening the world. The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is one of the classic pathways of PF and can directly or indirectly participate in cell proliferation, inflammatory cell infiltration, lung tissue angiogenesis,epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT),etc.Traditional Chinese medi-cine has achieved good results in the prevention and treatment of PF.Many traditional Chinese medicine compounds, monomers or active ingredients act on PF by targeting the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. This article reviews the regulation of Wnt/β-catenin by traditional Chinese medicine in recent years. This article reviews the research results related to the catenin signaling pathway in the treatment of PF,in order to provide a reasonable choice for the clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine.
