Observation of the Clinical Curative Effect on the Recovery of Gastrointestinal Function in Elderly Patients with Acute Suppurative Appendicitis after Surgery by Twelve Flavors Dandelion Syrup
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of twelve-flavored dandelion syrup on the recovery of gas-trointestinal function after resection of acute suppurative appendicitis in the elderly. Methods: 67 elderly patients with acute suppurative appendicitis who underwent appendectomy were selected and randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group was given additional dandelion syrup on the first day after surgery, and patients in both groups were given anti-infective treatment after surgery. The white blood cell count and high-sensi-tivity C-reactive protein (CRP), postoperative clinical symptom scores, postoperative first anal exhaust and defecation time, bowel sound recovery time, postoperative first ambulation time and Length of stay. Results: The white blood cell count and CRP of the treatment group on the 3rd day after surgery, and the clinical symptom score on the 3rd day after surgery were all lower than those of the control group; the treatment group had lower postoperative anal exhaust and defecation time, bowel sound recovery time, and first postoperative ambulation time. The walking time was earlier than that of the control group; the hospitalization time of the treatment group was shorter than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion: Twelve-flavored dandelion syrup has a significant effect on the recovery of gastrointestinal function after resection of acute suppurative appendicitis in the elderly.
