Acupuncture therapy can effectively improve the related symptoms of patients with fibromyalgia syn-drome (FM). It is effective, safe and has no toxic side effects. It has been widely used in clinical practice. This article reviewed the domestic and foreign literature on acupuncture in the treatment of FM in the past five years and found that acupuncture can exert a bidirectional regulatory effect through central and peripheral multiple targets and multiple lev-els. Its mechanism of action is mainly focused on regulating pain center sensitization, inhibiting inflammatory response, Fight oxidative stress and regulate hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis function. This article summarizes the potential mechanisms of acupuncture in the treatment of FM, with a view to providing a certain reference for clinical research and proposing a more optimized treatment plan for acupuncture in the treatment of FM.
