ZHOU Ting's Clinical Experience in Treating Hunter Syndrome by Stages based on the Meridian Theory
Ramsay Hunt syndrome(RHS)is a syndrome caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus and invasion of the geniculate ganglion of the facial nerve, resulting in severe earache, deafness, vertigo and facial paralysis. The condition is serious.,the prognosis is poor and it is a type of clinically refractory facial paralysis.Current Western medical treatments are not ideal for improving facial paralysis.Chief Physician ZHOU Ting is good at combining tradi-tional acupuncture theory with modern medicine. She believes that the cause and pathogenesis of RHS are the conflict between good and evil, and the malnutrition of the meridians. The disease is located in the three yang meridians of the head and face.Different treatment methods are adopted according to different stages of the disease. In the acute stage, shallow acupuncture combined with moxibustion focuses on expelling evil spirits and strengthening the body;in the re-covery stage, penetrating acupuncture combined with electroacupuncture emphasizes dredging the meridians, expelling evil spirits and strengthening the body;in the sequelae stage, penetrating acupuncture combined with stagnant needle lifting techniques are used to reconcile Qi and blood, softening muscles and relieving spasm.Flexible adjustment of different acupuncture methods and treatment plans according to different stages, and staged treatment can improve the efficacy of clinical treatment of RHS.
