Research Progress on the Regulation of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor by Tonifying and Promoting Blood Circulation Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Prevention and Treatment of Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis (OP) is one of the common and important causes of death in the elderly. Vascular endothe-lial growth factor (VEGF) is the most effective and highly specific growth factor that induces angiogenesis. It can couple angiogenesis and bone formation, promote blood vessel regeneration in bone tissue, and induce osteogenesis. Studies have shown that Chinese medicine can regulate VEGF to treat intervertebral disc degeneration. Chinese medicine is one of the important means of treating OP in China. It has the characteristics of multi-target,multi-pathway,and ho-listic. It can make up for the shortcomings of single symptomatic treatment of Western medicine and has broad applica-tion prospects. This article reviews the regulatory effects of various classic Chinese medicines on VEGF levels and their mediated pathways in the occurrence and development of osteoporosis, providing a reference for the clinical application and basic research of Chinese medicines for invigorating blood circulation, and providing new ideas for the theoretical and mechanism research of Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of OP.
