Research Progress of Etiology and Mechanism of Acupuncture in Premature Ovarian Insufficiency
Premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)refers to the phenomenon of ovarian hypoactivity in women before the age of 40,which leads to menstrual disorders and early menopause,which significantly reduces female fertility and increases the incidence of related diseases in various systems.The causes of POI are complex and diverse,including genetics,immunity,iatrogenicity,infection,etc.Traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture can protect the ovaries by regulating reproductive endocrine levels,regulating the function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis,regulat-ing immune or oxidative stress damage or improving ovarian micro circulation.This article reviews the causes of POI and the mechanism of acupuncture action,in order to provide new ideas for the wider application of acupuncture in the treatment of POI in clinical practice.
