Professor GUO Lihua pointed out that malignant pleural effusion(MPE)is a common complication in clinical practice.MPE caused by lung cancer is a disease with deficiency as the main symptom and mixed deficiency and excess.Professor GUO Lihua proposed the theory of"cultivating soil and controlling water,regulating Qi and regu-lating lung"by summarizing more than 30 years of clinical experience.Based on the principles of invigorating Qi and moving spleen,regulating Qi and regulating lung,and promoting diuresis and eliminating symptoms,he focused on the use of Qi regulating drugs and spleen strengthening drugs,and formulated a prescription for strengthening spleen,invigorating Qi and expelling water,which can invigorate spleen,invigorate Qi,expand chest and regulate lung,and promote diuresis and eliminate symptoms to make the blocked lung Qi clear and coordinated,so as to achieve the pur-pose of Qi transformation and water and dampness transformation.This prescription has been clinically used and has a remarkable effect in treating MPE of Qi deficiency and fluid retention type and improving the quality of life.
