Ankylosing spondylitis is a systemic rheumatic disease that mainly causes chronic inflammation of the sacroiliac joint.ZHANG Wandong is the chief physician of the Department of Rheumatology of the First Affiliated Hos-pital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,a doctor of medicine,a master's supervisor,and currently serves as the standing committee member and secretary of the Anhui Provincial Rheumatology Professional Commit-tee of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Director ZHANG Wandong believes that kyphosis is caused by spleen and kidney deficiency,which cannot resist evil.Wind,cold,dampness and heat are the symptoms.In the early stage of the disease,dampness and heat are the main causes.In the remission period,spleen and kidney deficiency are the main causes.The complex condition is mostly a mixture of deficiency and excess.Phlegm and blood stasis run through the disease.The clinical treatment of kyphosis is mainly based on tonifying the kidney and spleen,clearing heat and removing dampness,focusing on resolving phlegm,removing blood stasis and unblocking the merid-ians,making good use of rattan and insect products,and emphasizing the important role of functional exercise in delay-ing the progression of the disease.
