Clinical Effect of Jiawei Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction in Preventing Peripheral Neurotoxicity Induced by Oxaliplatin in Patients with Gastric Cancer
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Jiawei Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction in preventing peripheral neu-rotoxicity induced by oxaliplatin in patients with gastric cancer. Methods A total of 60 patients with gastric cancer were en-rolled and divided into control group and observation group, with 30 patients in each group. The patients in the control group received oxaliplatin chemotherapy, and those in the observation group received Jiawei Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction in addi-tion to the treatment in the control group;the course of treatment was 4 months for both groups.Levi grade was used to ob-serve peripheral neurotoxicity after treatment, and the two groups were observed in terms of gastrointestinal adverse reactions, hematologic toxicity, abnormal rate of liver function, and the rate of increase in tumor markers. Results Compared with the control group, the observation group had significantly lower Levi grade (P<0.05)and incidence rate of gastrointestinal ad-verse reactions (P<0.05).There were no significant differences between the two groups in the grade of hematologic toxicity (leukocytes, platelets, and hemoglobin)and the rates of increase in alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, and tumor markers (P>0.05).Conclusion Jiawei Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction is safe and reliable in preventing peripheral neurotoxicity and alleviating gastrointestinal adverse reactions due to oxaliplatin in patients with gastric cancer.
