Chemical Constituents from Trichosanthes kirilowii Peel
Objective To investigate the chemical components of the dry mature fruit peel of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim. Methods Silicagel,Sephadex LH-20,ODS reversed phase column, and semi-preparative HPLC were used for the isolation and purification of the water extract of Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim.peel, and spectroscopy (1H-NMR,13C-NMR,and HRMS) was used for the structural identification of the compounds obtained. Results A total of 12 compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of the water extract and were structurally identified as cucurbitacin D (1 ),cucurbitacin B (2 ),isocucurb-itacin D (3),fabacein (4),23,24-dihydrocu-curbitacin D (5),chrysoeriol-7-O-β-D-glucoside(6),blumenol A (7),4-hydroxy-benzoicacid (8 ), 5-oxymaltol (9 ), vanillic acid (10 ),nicotinic acid (11 ), and 2-methyl maleimide-5-oxime (12 ). Conclusion Compound 4 is isolated from a natural product for the first time, and compounds 3,8,9,11,and 12 are isolated from T.kirilowii peel for the first time.
