Clinical Effect of Acupuncture at Jingtong Point Combined with Massage in Treatment of Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of acupuncture at Jingtong point combined with massage in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR).Methods A total of 66 patients with CSR were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 33 patients in each group. The patients in the observation group received acupuncture at Jingtong point combined with massage, and those in the control group received conventional acupuncture. The two groups were observed before and after treatment in terms of the scores of neck pain, numbness of the extremities, and limited cervical range of motion,Neck Dysfunction Index (NDI),short-form McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ)score,and range of motion of cer-vical flexion, extension, rotation, and lateral flexion. The clinical effects of two groups were compared. Results After treat-ment,both groups had significant reductions in the scores of neck pain, numbness of the extremities, and limited cervical range of motion,VAS/PPI/PRI scores of the SF-MPQ scale, and NDI (P<0.05)and significant increases in the range of motion of cervical flexion, extension, rotation, and lateral flexion (P<0.05),and compared with the control group, the observation group had significantly greater reductions in the above scores and significantly better improvements in the range of motion of cervical flexion, extension, rotation, and lateral flexion (P<0.05).The observation group had a significantly better clinical outcome than the control group (P<0.05).Conclusions Acupuncture at Jingtong point combined with massage has a marked clinical effect in the treatment of CSR and can improve cervical range of motion and alleviate clinical symptoms.
