After the Cold War,Japan became actively involved in Middle East affairs, and its diplomatic behavior changed from"negative"to"positive,"but the diplomatic emotional cognition and motivation affecting the change of diplomatic behavior are unclear. The results of quantitative text analysis show that Japan maintains a high level of"positive"sentiment toward Palestine, which is higher than that of Israel, maintains a relatively stable sentiment toward Iran, and declines from"positive"to"negative"sentiment toward Iraq with 2013 as the turning point.Japan's perception of diplomatic sentiment in the Middle East has changed from"negative"to"positive".From the perspective of the motivations affecting Japan's emotional perception of diplomacy in the Middle East, the emotional motivations of"unease"and"fear"were evident from 1990 to 2000 and changed to"sympathy"and"ambition"from 2001 to 2010,and"pride"was added to"unease"and"ambition"from 2011 to 2023.Influenced by egoistic emotional motives such as"ambition,"Japan will continue to expand its political and economic influence in the Middle East in the future, seeking to become the builder of the Middle East regional order. The analysis results of this paper can provide a reference for further understanding Japan's foreign policy in the Middle East.
