Research progress on fire extinguishing performance evaluation based on cup burner test system
Cup burner test is a classical method for determining the minimum extinguishing concentration of gas extinguishing agents in the fire protection field.Since the halon extinguishing agent is eliminated, halon substitutes have undergone the development of different phase states, which has promoted the corresponding improvement of the cup burner test system. At the same time, the research on fire extinguishing performance evaluation based on the cup burner test system has been expanding. This paper reviews the use and improvement research of the cup burner test system at home and abroad, focusing on the cup burner test system and test methods applicable to gas-phase,liquid-phase,solid-phase,and compound-phase extinguishing agents. It is found that liquid-phase extinguishing agents and solid-phase extinguishing agents can be made into steam, fine droplets,or suspended powder by an auxiliary device to participate in cup burner experiments. Moreover, the emergence of composite fire extinguishing agents promotes the development of a two-phase input cup burner test experimental system. This paper also reviews the evaluation of fire extinguishing performance based on cup burners. It is found that the extinguishing efficiency of gas-phase extinguishing agents is related to their heat capacity.Also,liquid-phase extinguishing agents such as perfluoroketones participate in the cup burner test in the form of vapor, which consumes flame-active radicals by decomposing the resulting radicals.Further, the fire-extinguishing effect of fine water mist containing additives is determined by the competitive relationship between the chemical action of additives and the evaporation capacity of pure water. In addition, the fire-extinguishing efficiency of solid phase extinguishing agents is related to the particle size. For synergistic fire extinguishing research,an inert gas/chemical fire extinguishing medium composite extinguishing agent has a positive synergistic effect, which is affected by the premixed ratio. In the future, the cup burner test system will continue to be improved and will play a more important role in fire extinguishing agent screening and fire extinguishing performance evaluation.
