Impact of informal interaction on the unsafe behavior of new generation miners
To elucidate the mechanisms underlying the influence of informal interactions on the unsafe behavior of the new generation miners, this study introduces two intermediary variables:knowledge sharing and safety competency.Building on a foundation of literature research,a hypothetical model is established to outline the relationships among these four components.Employing scales for informal interactions, knowledge sharing, safety competency, and unsafe behavior, data is collected through a questionnaire survey. The hypothesized model is validated through correlation analysis and tests of mediating effects for each variable.Simultaneously, through individual interviews,we gain insights into how miners perceive informal interactions, knowledge sharing, and safety competency,to further validate the relationship between informal interactions and unsafe behavior. The research findings confirm that informal interactions directly impact the unsafe behavior of the new generation of miners.Furthermore, these interactions exert an indirect influence through three pathways:the mediating effect of knowledge sharing, the mediating effect of safety competency, and the combined chain mediating effect of the two.Insights from the individual interviews further reveal that interactions with leaders and colleagues stimulate a heightened sense of safety responsibility, knowledge sharing enhances the ability to identify potential hazards and safety competency is cultivated through informal interactions. In conclusion, this study underscores the importance for organizations to prioritize informal interactions among the new generation of miners.Elevating levels of knowledge sharing and safety competency is crucial in reducing unsafe behaviors. The insights from individual interviews enrich and validate the study's results, providing a comprehensive perspective on the intricate dynamics within the mining context.By embracing these findings, organizations can foster safer work environments and promote safer practices among the new generation of miners. This research holds positive implications for enhancing miners'safety awareness and behavior, contributing to the sustainable development of the industry as a whole.
