Research on the effectiveness of coal mine safety signs from the perspective of framing effect
To explore the effectiveness and mechanisms of coal mine safety signs and reduce the probability of coal mine accidents, this study designed and implemented a series of human factor experiments based on the perspective of the framing effect.Utilizing synchronized measurement techniques for attention, behavioral response, and recognition memory,a multimodal cognitive system encompassing task performance, risk perception, and eye movement behavior was constructed. This study collected experimental data from 30 participants using the ErgoLAB experimental platform and the Tobii Pro Nano eye tracker.Simulated coal mine operation situations were used to study the effects of safety signs presented in loss framing and gain framing, under both high-risk and low-risk operation conditions,on miners'recognition memory tasks and eye movement behavior. The recognition memory task data included task accuracy and completion time, while the eye movement data included total fixation time and first fixation time. The results indicated that participants had higher recognition memory task accuracy for safety signs presented in loss framing and high-risk operation situations. In low-risk operation situations, safety signs presented in loss framing significantly increased the total fixation time. This result suggests that when designing safety signs for low-risk operation situations, potential risks and losses should be highlighted to attract miners'attention.Adjusting the presentation framing of safety signs according to the operation situation can effectively enhance their effectiveness and prevent accidents. The innovation of this study lies in exploring the interaction between operation situations and gain-loss framing. It not only applies the framing effect to the field of coal mine safety management but also discusses the impact of operation situations,a variable closely related to coal mine safety, thereby increasing the ecological validity of the study. From the perspective of visual psychology and based on the framing effect of behavioral economics, this study reveals the impact mechanism of safety signs in coal mine operation situations. The results provide empirical evidence for the optimization of coal mine safety signs and assist miners in effectively preventing accidents.
