Expression of transforming growth factor-β1 and insulin-like growth factor-1 in esophageal cancer tissue and their relationship with clinical characteristics and prognosis
Objective To investigate the expression of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)and insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1)in esophageal cancer tissue and their relationship with clinical characteristics and prognosis.Method The esophageal cancer tissues and corresponding adjacent tissues were collected from 81 patients with esopha-geal cancer, the expression of TGF-β1 and IGF-1 were detected by immunohistochemistry, the expression of TGF-β1 and IGF-1 in esophageal cancer tissues of esophageal cancer patients with different infiltration depth and lymph node metasta-sis were compared. The influencing factors of poor prognosis in esophageal cancer patients were analyzed by multivariate Logistic regression model analysis.Result The positive expression rates of TGF-β1 and IGF-1 in esophageal cancer tis-sues were significantly higher than those in adjacent tissues, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).The positive expression rates of TGF-β1 and IGF-1 in esophageal cancer tissues of patients with infiltration depth T3-4 and lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those of patients with infiltration depth T1-2 and no lymph node me-tastasis(P<0.01).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that TNM stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ,infiltration depth T3-4,lymph node metastasis,TGF-β1 positive expression, and IGF-1 positive expression were independent risk factors for poor prog-nosis in esophageal cancer patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The positive expression rates of TGF-β1 and IGF-1 are high in esophageal cancer tissues, and their expression are closely related to the infiltration depth and lymph node metastasis, and are independent risk factors for poor prognosis in esophageal cancer patients.
