Correlation between anxiety, depression levels of family caregivers and quality of life of breast cancer patients with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy
Objective To investigate the quality of life of breast cancer patients with postoperative adjuvant chemo-therapy and the anxiety and depression levels of their family caregivers, and to analyze the correlation between them.Method A questionnaire survey was conducted among 200 female breast cancer patients who received postoperative ad-juvant chemotherapy and their family caregivers. The hospital anxiety and depression scale(HADS)was used to evaluate the anxiety and depression levels of family caregivers, and the Chinese version of function assessment of cancer therapy-breast(FACT-B)was used to evaluate the quality of life of breast cancer patients with postoperative adjuvant chemothera-py.The correlation between the anxiety and depression levels of family caregivers and quality of life of breast cancer pa-tients were analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis.Result A total of 200 HADS questionnaires were sent out,190 were recovered,9 invalid questionnaires were excluded, and 181 valid questionnaires were obtained.A total of 200 FACT-B questionnaires were sent out,192 were recovered,10 invalid questionnaires were excluded, and 182 valid question-naires were obtained.A total of 168 pairs of valid questionnaires were included in the final statistical analysis,28.57%(48/168)of family caregivers had anxiety emotion,25.60%(43/168)had depression emotion, and 17.26%(29/168)had both anxiety and depression emotions. The HADS-anxiety subscale(HADS-A)and HADS-depression subscale(HADS-D)scores of family caregivers were 5.0(3.0,8.0)points and 4.0(2.0,8.0)points,respectively.The total score of FACT-B in breast cancer patients with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy was(101.86±19.11)points.The HADS-A and HADS-D scores of family caregivers were negatively correlated with the total score of FACT-B in breast cancer patients with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy(r=-0.283,-0.346,P<0.05).In addition to no correlation between anxiety level and social/family status score, anxiety and depression levels of family caregivers were negatively correlated with each di-mensional score of FACT-B in breast cancer patients with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy(P<0.05).Conclusion Anxiety and depression in family caregivers of breast cancer patients with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy are quite common, which can have a negative impact on the quality of life of patients from various aspects.Medical staff should pay attention to the psychological state of family caregivers.
