Chinese expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of uterine smooth muscle tumor of uncertain malignant potential(2024 Edition)
Uterine smooth muscle tumor of uncertain malignant potential(STUMP)is a borderline/intermediate uter-us tumor distinguished from benign uterine leiomyoma and malignant uterine leiomyosarcoma, with a low incidence rate.Although the prognosis is good, there is still a particular risk of recurrence and malignancy.Lacking specificity in clinical manifestations and imaging features, the diagnosis of STUMP mainly relies on postoperative pathological examination.Currently, there are no unified pathologically diagnostic standards for STUMP.The combination of organizational mor-phology,immunohistochemistry,and molecular detection is helpful for diagnosis and prognosis prediction.Hysterectomy is recommended for STUMP patients without fertility desire, lesion resection surgery under comprehensive risk assess-ment could be an option for those who have fertility needs when close follow-up could be guaranteed. However,a com-plete hysterectomy still needs to be performed after delivery.
