Expression and clinical significance of DAB2 interacting protein and β-catenin in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Objective To investigate the expression of DAB2 interacting protein(DAB2IP)and β-catenin in esopha-geal squamous cell carcinoma tissues,and to analyze their relationship with clinical features and prognosis of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Method Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and adjacent normal mucosal tissues were collected from 92 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma,and esophageal intraepithelial neoplasia tissues were collected from 55 patients with esophageal intraepithelial neoplasia.The expressions of DAB2IP and β-catenin in 3 tissues were detected by immunohistochemical method,and their relationship with clinical features of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients were analyzed.Kaplan-Meier survival curve was drawn to analyze the rela-tionship between the expressions of DAB2IP,β-catenin and the prognosis of patients.Cox regression model was used to analyze the prognostic factors in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Result The positive expression rate of DAB2IP in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues were lower than those in esophageal intraepithelial neoplasia tissues and adjacent normal mucosal tissues,the positive expression rate of β-catenin were higher than those in esopha-geal intraepithelial neoplasia tissues and adjacent normal mucosal tissues,and the positive expression rate of β-catenin in esophageal intraepithelial neoplasia tissues was higher than that in adjacent normal mucosal tissues,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was negative correlation between DAB2IP and β-catenin expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(r=-0.609,P<0.01).The positive expression rates of DAB2IP in esophageal squamous cell car-cinoma tissues of patients with different degrees of differentiation,distant metastasis,lymph node metastasis and TNM stages were statistically significant(P<0.05).The positive expression rates of β-catenin in esophageal squamous cell carci-noma tissues of patients with different degrees of differentiation,depth of invasion,distant metastasis,lymph node metas-tasis and TNM stages were statistically significant(P<0.05).The survival of patients with positive DAB2IP expression was better than that of patients with negative DAB2IP expression,and the survival of patients with negative β-catenin ex-pression was better than that of patients with positive β-catenin expression,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Multivariate analysis showed that distant metastasis,TNM stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ and DAB2IP negative expression were independent risk factors for the prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The positive expression rate of DAB2IP is low in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues,and the positive expression rate of β-catenin is high.Both of them may be important indicators for clinical diagnosis and prognosis evaluation of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
