Application effect of hospice care in terminally ill elderly patients with gastric cancer
Objective To analyze the application effect of hospice care in terminally ill elderly patients with gastric cancer.Method According to different intervention methods,80 terminally ill elderly gastric cancer patients were divid-ed into hospice care group(n=43)and control group(n=37).The control group received routine care, while the hospice care group received hospice care on the basis of the control group. The pain level[numerical rating scale(NRS)],self-effi-cacy[general self-efficacy scale(GSES)],quality of life[European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality of life questionnaire core 30(EORTC QLQ-C30)],anxiety symptoms[symptom check list-90(SCL-90)],fear emotions[fear of progression questionnaire-short form(FoP-Q-SF)],and satisfaction(hospice care satisfaction scale)were compared between the two groups.Result After intervention, the NRS scores of both groups were lower than those before intervention, and the GSES scores were higher than those before intervention, the NRS score in the hospice care group was lower than that in the control group, and the GSES score was higher than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After intervention, the scores of all dimensions of the EORTC QLQ-C30 scale in both groups were higher than those before intervention, the scores of all dimensions and total scores of the FoP-Q-SF scale were lower than those before intervention, the scores of all dimensions of the EORTC QLQ-C30 scale in the hospice care group were higher than those in the control group, the scores of all dimensions and total scores of the FoP-Q-SF scale were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Af-ter intervention, the scores of all dimensions of SCL-90 scale in the two groups were lower than those before intervention, the scores of interpersonal sensitivity,somatization,obsessive-compulsive symptoms,depression,hostility,anxiety,para-noia,phobia,psychosis,and total scores of the hospice care group were lower than those of the control group, and the dif-ferences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The satisfaction score of the hospice care group was higher than that of the control group, the total satisfaction rate was 97.67%,higher than 81.08%of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Hospice care can effectively alleviate the degree of pain in terminally ill elderly gastric cancer patients, improve their quality of life, alleviate and eliminate negative emotions such as anxiety and fear, enabling patients to maintain their dignity and thus increase satisfaction.
