Influence of group psychological intervention based on ADOPT model on self-management ability, quality of life, and hope level in elderly patients with rectal cancer
Objective To explore the influence of group psychological intervention based on ADOPT model on self-management ability, quality of life, and hope level in elderly patients with rectal cancer.Method According to different intervention methods,200 elderly patients with rectal cancer were divided into observation group(n=109)and routine group(n=91).The control group received routine intervention, while the observation group received group psychological intervention based on the ADOPT model. The stoma adaptation[ostomy adjustment scale(OAS)],self-management abili-ty,negative emotions[self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating depression scale(SDS)],quality of life[European Orga-nization for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality of life questionnaire core 30(EORTC QLQ-C30)],hope level[Herth hope index(HHI)],and satisfaction were compared between the two groups.Result At discharge and 6 months after discharge, the scores of all dimensions and total score of OAS scales in the two groups were higher than those one day after surgery, and the scores of all dimensions and total score of OAS scale in the observation group were higher than those in the routine group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).At discharge, the SAS and SDS scores of the two groups were lower than those one day after surgery, the scores of all dimensions of the self management ability questionnaire for colostomy patients,EORTC QLQ-C30 scales, and HHI scales in the two groups were higher than those one day after surgery, the SAS and SDS scores in the observation group were lower than those in the routine group, and scores of all dimensions of the self-management ability questionnaire for colostomy patients,EORTC QLQ-C30 scale, and HHI scale were higher than those in the routine group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total satisfaction rate in the observation group was 98.17%,which was higher than 89.01%in the routine group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion The group psychological intervention based on ADOPT model can significantly alleviate the negative emotions of elderly rectal cancer patients, strengthen their adapt-ability and self-management ability, and improve their quality of life, hope level, and satisfaction.
