Objective To investigate the levels of serum stathmin(STMN)and vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGFC)in patients with esophageal cancer(EC)and their clinical significance.Method A total of 80 EC patients and 60 healthy subjects were selected as EC group and healthy group respectively.Serum STMN and VEGFC levels were compared between the two groups and EC patients with different clinical characteristics.Followed up for 3 years,Cox re-gression model was used to analyze the prognostic influencing factors of EC patients.Result The levels of serum STMN and VEGFC in EC group were significantly higher than those in healthy group, and the differences were statistical-ly significant(P<0.01).The levels of serum STMN and VEGFC in EC patients with lymph node metastasis and clinical stage Ⅲ were significantly higher than those without lymph node metastasis and clinical stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).Multivariate Cox regression analysis results showed that serum STMN level≥3.46 ng/ml,serum VEGFC level≥1129.76 ng/L,low differentiation and lymph node metastasis were independent risk fac-tors for the prognosis of EC patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The levels of serum VEGFC and STMN are higher in EC pa-tients,and their expression levels are related to the clinical characteristics and prognosis of EC patients.
