Effect of postoperative pain management based on numerical rating scale in patients undergoing radical mastectomy
Objective To investigate the effect of postoperative pain management based on numerical rating scale(NRS)in patients undergoing radical mastectomy.Method A total of 102 patients with breast cancer were divided into conventional group(51 cases)and observation group(51 cases)according to postoperative analgesia. The conventional group was given routine postoperative pain management, and the observation group was given postoperative pain manage-ment based on the NRS.Postoperative analgesia effect, postoperative patient controlled intravenous analgesia(PICA)use, postoperative recovery process index, shoulder joint motion and upper limb muscle strength, and quality of life were com-pared between the two groups.Result Within 24 h after surgery, the number of effective coughs and the number of turn-ing over in bed in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the conventional group;at 1,3 and 7 days after surgery, the NRS scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the conventional group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).The time of PCIA use,the first time of getting out of bed after surgery, the time of wound recovery, the time of drainage tube retention and the time of hospital stay in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the conventional group, and the times of PCIA compression and the dosage of an-algesic drug in postoperative 24 h were significantly less than those in the conventional group, the differences were statis-tically significant(P<0.01).One month after surgery, the shoulder joint motion and upper limb muscle strength in the ob-servation group were significantly better than those in the conventional group, and the differences were statistically signif-icant(P<0.01).Three months after surgery, the physical state, social family, emotional state, functional state, additional at-tention scores and total scores in two groups were higher than those before surgery, and the physical state, social family, emotional state, functional state, additional attention scores and total score in observation group were higher than those in conventional group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of postoperative pain management based on NRS in patients undergoing radical mastectomy can better relieve postoperative pain, promote postoperative recovery, and improve patients'quality of life.
