Taking ethyl cellulose ( EC) as the carrier and erythromycin ( ERYT) as the loaded drug,dif-ferent viscosity of EC and mass ratios of EC/ERYT composites were prepared by electrostatic spray meth-od.The morphology, structure and thermal stability of the composites were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM),X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC).The re-sults showed that when the mass ratio of EC and ERYT is equal, the EC/ERYT composite exhibits a cir-cular microstructure with dense surface pores and well dispersed. The viscosity of EC affects not obviously on the average particle size of the composites (5.77-6.73 μm) .When the mass ratio of EC to ERYT is 2∶1,there is no significant change on the microstructure and average particle size of the composites.Fur-ther increasing the ERYT content will lead to particle adhesion and irregular morphology of the compos-ite.The XRD and DSC results showed that when EC/ERYT composites with different viscosity ratios of EC to ERYT with equal mass, and EC N5 to ERYT mass ratio of 2∶1,there was no significant change in the chemical composition and ERYT was dispersed in molecular or amorphous form in EC,improving the stability of the EC/ERYT composites. Therefore, EC/ERYT composites prepared through electrostatic spray can provide reference for the research and development of new ERYT preparations.
