In Western classical historiography,Romulus was regarded as the founder of the City,the first king of Rome,the father of Rome,the son of God and the gods themselves,had a pivotal position in the history of ancient Rome.The book Ab Urbe Condita provided a more complete account of Romulus'life and main deeds.Through the divine construction of Romulus,Livy illustrated the sacredness of Roman origins;through historical construction,he embodied the important role of human nature and morality in historical development;and through exemplary construction,he demonstrated the method and utility of the Romans in utilizing the example of their ancestors.His aim was to find the path of contemporary Roman revival from history,to reshape ancestral values,and to argue for the legitimacy and authority of Roman world domination.
