Epidemiological Characteristics of Influenza Virus and Enteroviruses Among Influenza-like Cases in Hangzhou City,China,in 2021
This study focuses on the pathogenic spectrum and epidemic characteristics of Influenza virus(IV)and Enterovirus(EV)in influenza-like cases in Hangzhou city,Zhejiang Province,China, providing a scientific basis for prevention and treatment of IV and EV infections.A total of 2,762 influenza-like case throat swab samples were collected from Hangzhou sentinel hospitals in 2021,of which 188 cases(6.81%)were positive for IV,286 cases(10.35%)were positive for EV,and 9 cases(0.33%)were co-infected with IV and EV.The results showed that the main season for IV circulation was autumn and winter, and the 8-17 year-old age group was the key population. The main season for EV circulation was summer, and children under 8 years old were the key population. There was no gender difference in the positivity rate of IV(x2=0.122,P=0.762).The positivity rate of EV was higher in males than females(x2=18.913,P<0.001).All IV-positive samples belonged to the influenza B Victoria subtype.Among the EV-positive specimens,128 cases(44.76%)were successfully sequenced, and 156 cases(54.55%)were successfully typed, including 5 types of HEV-A,6 types of HEV-B,and 6 types of RV-A.The dominant genotypes of IV and EV were BV and CVA4 respectively.Influenza virus and Enterovirus infections in influenza-like cases in Hangzhou,Zhejiang Province in 2021 showed clear seasonal and age characteristics.
