Research Progress on the Etiology of Dengue Fever and Laboratory-Detection Methods of the Dengue Virus
Dengue fever(DF)is an acute viral infectious disease caused by infection by the dengue virus(DV).The DV is transmitted mainly by the bite of mosquitos of the Aedes genus. It can spread rapidly in a short period of time, causing a large-scale epidemic and posing a serious threat to public health. The World Health Organization ranks DF as the most serious vector-borne disease worldwide. In recent years, due to global warming,an increase in international tourism and trade, and urban congestion, the areas affected by DF have continued to expand, and the incidence has increased year-by-year.This situation brings great pressure to the prevention and control of DF in China. To strengthen understanding of the epidemic and pathogenic mechanism of DF,we have summarized recent research progress in DF etiology,as well as the transmission, pathogenic mechanisms and laboratory detection of the DV.
