The Role of Ticks in the Transmission of African Swine Fever and Their Potential Threats in China
African swine fever(ASF)is a highly contagious and deadly viral disease caused by the African swine fever virus(ASFV).In 2018,ASF was first discovered in China and widely spread. The Chinese government took active prevention and control measures, and the epidemic was effectively controlled.ASFV is currently the only known insect borne DNA virus, and soft ticks play an important role in the transmission of ASF.There have been reports of ASFV replicating in ticks and transmitting the virus to pigs abroad, but there is still a lack of systematic research in China in this area, and the risks it poses to ASF prevention and control need to be evaluated. This study will analyze the role of ticks in the spread of ASF and the potential ability of ticks to infect and spread ASF in China to provide reference for the comprehensive prevention and control of ASF in China.
