A Chinese variety Yuyun and a Japanese variety Xingji was bred using hybrid and backcross methods by Henan Provincial Academy of Sericulture.These systematically bred varieties are charac-terized by blue and gray egg colors for Yuyun,and scutiform striped pattern body for Xingji.A binary hybrid combination,Yuyun × Xingji,was then developed.Results from laboratory evaluations con-ducted between 2021 and 2023 showed that the fifth instar of Yuyun × Xingji took 8 days and 13 hours to mature,while the total duration for all instars was 26 days and 11 hours.The mortality rate in the cocoons was 10.38％,the pupation survival rate was 86.97％,and the cocoon layer rate was 24.57％.The total cocoon yield per 10,000 silkworms was 16.204 kg,with a cocoon silk length of 1,185.5 meters,a reeling rate of 70.40％,a dry cocoon silk yield rate of 41.50％,a cocoon silk fineness of 2.988 dtex,a cleanliness score of 91.50,and a cleaning score of 99.7.In rural assessments conduc-ted from 2022 to 2023,Yuyun×Xingji had a fifth instar duration of 8 days and 8 hours,with a total duration for all instars of 26 days and 18 hours.The mortality rate was 13.36％,the uniform pupa-tion survival rate was 85.67％,and the cocoon layer rate was 21.757％.The total cocoon yield per 10,000 silkworms was 16.398 kg,with a cocoon silk length of 1,066.6 meters,a reeling rate of 52.57％,a dry cocoon silk yield rate of 36.82％,a cocoon silk fineness of 2.896 dtex,a cleanliness score of 93.00,and a cleaning score of 99.7.This variety has been officially approved by the Henan Provincial Sericulture Variety Approval Committee.
