To understand the impact of different feeding and breeding models, particularly the use of young silkworm feed in breeding the Guangshi No.1 silkworm variety,on the feeding behavior and e-conomic traits of ordinary silkworm varieties, this experiment assessed the feeding performance of Guangshi No.1 with various feeds.Additionally, the growth and development,as well as the cocoon and silk quality under commercial feed conditions, were investigated. The results showed that the feeding performance of the Guangshi No.1 variety on artificial feed was significantly better than that of the control variety.Metrics such as weight, developmental progression, cocoon quality, and silk length under commercial feeding conditions were also superior to those of the control variety. These results indicate that the Guangshi No.1 silkworm variety retains its broad feeding characteristics, and the breeding model utilizing young silkworm feed from its parental lines is viable.
