An Analysis of the Background and Evolution of the Civil War in the Democratic Republic of the Congo(1996-2003)
The cross-border ethnic issues in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo(DRC)have deep historical ori-gins.Since the 1990s,the intensification of ethnic conflicts has led to the escalation of conflicts within the DRC and with neighbor-ing countries,which is the main reason for the civil war.Neighboring African countries such as Rwanda,Uganda,Angola,and Zimbabwe intervened in the conflicts in the DRC for different political and economic motives,resulting in the expansion and prolon-gation of The Civil War in the DRC.
