Application of six sigma methods in reducing the incidence of scarring in cold heading steels
By applying the six sigma method and quality analysis methods, the key factors for the occurrence of scarring in cold heading steel wires were found, among which the billet surface grinding burrs and scratches were the main factors for the string scarring, and the abnormalities of the heating furnace discharge rollers and the steel parts were the main factors for the warping scarring.Through a series of improvement measures such as optimizing the billet finishing process and promoting the fine management of rolling line equipment, the incidence of scarring in cold heading steel decreased from 0.54%before improvement to 0.10%,and the sigma level increased from 2.5 to 3.0.
