How Media Is Possible:The Emergence and Significance of Electronic Handwriting
In recent years,some consumer electronic products equipped with stylus encourage people to return to handwriting practices.It seems that there is a possibility to get through the fracture between traditional handwriting and digital media.This is a field that has not been paid attention to in media research.It can provide us with an entry point to re-examine the emergence and meaning production of writing media.This paper uses the path of material discourse analysis to study how this new handwriting form derives from the technologies of human-computer interaction and handwriting recognition to form media.This paper finds that the development of electronic handwritten media has experienced several stages.The development of electronic handwriting media has an isomorphic relationship with the media discourse of pen,ink and paper,and the scene discourse of substitution and expansion.The development of electronic handwritten media is a process of combining the shaping of media and the defining of meaning production.
