Premise Revolution and Perspective Innovation:Constructing the Future Journalism Knowledge System Based on Digital News Practices
Digital news practices, characterized by digitality, have triggered significant shifts in the production of journalism knowledge.Originating from the structural framework of journalism and communication studies, the journalism knowledge system encompasses four dimensions:problem domains, core concepts, theoretical perspectives and methods, connections to reality and values. All of them now face challenges brought by digital news practices in terms of"stock and incremental:challenges. This research suggests that constructing future journalism knowledge system should begin with a"premise revolution"at the front-end and"perspective innovation"at the back-end.The"premise revolution",from a fundamental viewpoint, investigates how digital news practices redraw the external background and foundational mechanisms of journalism's specific issues, leading to the expansion, transition, and iteration of fundamental topics like research subjects, perspectives, and methodologies. The"perspective innovation",from a global viewpoint, analyzes how changes in the premises and content of the journalism knowledge system can induce integrated and systematic transformations. This research also emphasizes the enhancement of journalism's critical examination through reflective thinking, the integration of new and old knowledge through collaborative thinking, and the comprehensive development through systematic thinking.
