Using "Wushu" to Achieve "Merit": The Generative Theory of Chinese Wushu
"Chinese Wushu" and "Chinese kung fu" are two different terms of Chinese Wushu in the world today. The confusion between the two has led to biased views on Chinese Wushu and affected its external dissemination. The article studies the relationship and differences between "Chinese Wushu" and "Chinese kung fu" by consulting relevant materials, using literature review and logical analysis methods. It is believed that "gong" in Chinese Wushu places more emphasis on technical excellence than "wu"; The "gong" in Chinese Wushu emphasizes more on the cultivation of willpower than "wu"; The cultivation of virtue is more pursued in Chinese Wushu than in Wushu. It is believed that: (1) the cultivation of Chinese Wushu from "Wushu" to "achievements" reflects the spirit of craftsmanship that strives for excellence; (2) The cultivation process of Chinese Wushu from "Wushu" to "achievements" reflects the spirit of persistent craftsmanship; (3) The cultivation realm of Chinese Wushu from "wu" to "gong" reflects the spirit of craftsmanship that art carries the way. Therefore, the transition from "Wushu" to "achievements" reflects the spirit of craftsmanship contained in Chinese Wushu.
