In order to study the cultural symbols of traditional Wushu, this paper uses the methods of literature research and logical analysis, based on the basic theory of cultural semiotics,to deeply analyze the cultural symbol characteristics of traditional Wushu. The research believes that the theory of cultural semiotics is suitable for explaining the cultural symbol characteristics of traditional Wushu; The traditional Wushu symbol is a symbol system composed of the body technology carrier and cultural connotation in the dissemination of traditional Wushu culture. It is reflected in the behavioral representation of traditional Wushu culture in form and the perceptual reconstruction of its culture by practitioners in content; The form of traditional Wushu cultural symbols has the characteristic of relying on the uncertainty of body media to evolve into rich symbols, which has led to the creation of traditional Wushu body technology. At the same time, due to the inter-generational inheritance of symbol forms,it has the aesthetic universality in symbol communication and preservation, and has the arbitrary feature of symbol selection; The content of traditional Wushu cultural symbols relies on individual perceptual understanding and reconstruction to achieve infinite richness in the transmission process of signifier and signified. At the same time, due to the normative role of social groups on individuals, the symbol content has dual dimensions of individual and group characteristics; In terms of symbolic content,it has the function of personality transformation through ideological education.
