The Aesthetic Value of Taijiquan from the Dimension of Aesthetic Commonality between China and the West
In this paper, the aesthetic culture of taijiquan is explored from the latitude of the comparison between the aesthetic culture of China and the West by using research methods such as literature method, comparative research method and survey method, etc. From the perspective of aesthetics, taijiquan is a visual art which is expressed by the limbs. The prerequisite for practicing Taijiquan is that the practitioner should have a mind that is quiet and empty, and should have a mind that is free from "qi","image","existence","nothingness" and "emptiness". It is in line with the traditional Chinese aesthetics of "purging the mystery" and the western aesthetics of "suppressing the flesh and stretching the spirit, collecting the heart and looking inward". This unique aesthetic view of Taijiquan reflects the common characteristics of Chinese and Western aesthetics and culture, and it is also the fundamental reason why Taijiquan can be universally appreciated and accepted by people of all nationalities in the world.
