Taijiquan for Hypertension:A Systematic Review and Meta Analysis
Objective to explore the effects of Taijiquan exercise on the blood pressure values and other biochemical indicators of hypertensive patients,as well as the impact of exercise cycle and intensity. Methods Randomized controlled trials on Taijiquan and hypertension in both Chinese and English databases were retrieved and screened, and a meta-analysis of the results was conducted. Results Compared with the non-intervention,routine care, and walking groups, the Taijiquan intervention group showed more effective blood pressure control, with significant results in systolic pressure. The Taijiquan intervention was more effective in controlling triglycerides, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein, but the results for total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein were not statistically significant. There was no significant association between the cycle of Taijiquan exercise and the effect of blood pressure control. The intensity of a single Taijiquan training session and the frequency of Taijiquan training had a greater impact on blood pressure control. Conclusion Persistent participation in Taijiquan exercise can effectively control blood pressure. The intensity of a single Taijiquan exercise session is correlated with the effect of blood pressure control;maintaining Taijiquan exercise for more than 12 weeks and keeping the duration of each training session at more than 40 minutes can effectively control blood pressure.
