On the Development of Chinese Dragon Boat Culture in Southeast Asia
With the methods of literature review and logical analysis,the thesis explores the origins and cultural identity ways of dragon boat culture in Vietnam,Thailand,and Malay Peninsula.The results show that Vietnam dragon boat culture originated from the court boat racing in former Li Dynasty and people's cultural identity transferred from the belief of sacrificing the dragon to the integration of honoring ancestors and folk entertainment;Thailand dragon boat culture originated from the ancient Baiyue people's sacrifice and worship towards the water god and dragon totem and people's cultural identity is obtained from the integration of the sacrifice and worship towards water god and the modern dragon boat's spirit of perseverance and determination;Malay Peninsula dragon boat culture stemmed from the Dragon Boat Festival of Chinese people in the 19th century with the memorizing patriotic poet Quyuan and Dragon Boat Festival customs as the main way of emotional identity.
