Production practice of derived relief map based on basic geographic entity data in Beijing
Based on the new concept of "only measuring once",the basic geographic entity data can achieve "multi-level reuse" and multi-scale representation of the real world, which is the focus of attention in the new fundamental surveying and mapping and three-dimensional (3D) construction. Based on the principles of foundation, economy, and demonstration, Beijing, the first city in China to pilot and construct a new fundamental surveying and mapping system, undertakes the important task of the transformation, upgrading, and high-level application of its fundamental surveying and mapping achievements. Based on the pilot production of a standardized relief map for 100 square kilometers in the Beijing New Fundamental Surveying and Mapping Demonstration Zone, this paper employed the technology of hierarchical comprehensive expression of the geographic entity. The relief maps of 1:500,1:2000,and 1:10000 were derived automatically after the processing of the basic geographic entity data, including customized selection, entity synthesis, mapping derivation, and adaptation mapping techniques. By analyzing the effect and efficiency of the derived results, the reliability of the production practice in this paper was verified, which could provide a reference method and experience for the construction project of the national new fundamental surveying and mapping system.
