Output-oriented innovative teaching design for Introduction to Earth Information Science
Introduction to Earth Information Science has been one of the important professional courses for undergraduate programs in surveying engineering and geographic information science for many years, typically available in the first semester of the senior year. This course aims to guide students in both majors to integrate the fundamental theories and learning methods of earth information science, explore the academic frontiers of this field, and lay a solid knowledge foundation for employment and further graduate education while achieving the goals of environment and sustainable development, professional ethics, and lifelong learning as outlined in the curriculum. In the context of engineering education accreditation, this paper designed the course content into eight modules based on an output-oriented educational philosophy. For each module, core teaching content and learning objectives were set.Teaching methods were developed in accordance with the core content, learning objectives, and the learning characteristics of senior students. The output-oriented teaching design for Introduction to Earth Information Science was completed.Through the Rain Classroom educational platform,a two-semester course was delivered. In comparison with the previous teaching methods, the designed method has greatly improved teaching effects.
