Metadata is one type of data required in new basic surveying and mapping. In order to solve the problem of metadata production after digital orthophoto map (DOM),digital line graphic (DLG),and digital ground surface model (DSM) framing output in the new basic surveying and mapping,EPS software was used to run the edited and processed visual basic script (VBS). Combined with MatLab tools,a set of solutions for automatic metadata production was developed. The progressiveness and practicability of the technology were verified in the Boxing new basic surveying and mapping project. The experimental results show that this technology reduces the workload of manual modification and editing,enhances the accuracy of data,and improves efficiency by about 16 times.
