In the era of Web 2.0,the wide ap-plication of archival social media has changed the activity scope and behavior mode of archival us-ers,making them face the challenges of role blessing and role transformation. The role theory provides a new paradigm and perspective for ana-lyzing the behavior and attitude of archival social media users.Based on this, the paper examines the connotation of role construction of archival social media users from the perspective of role theory, and analyzes the role playing dilemmas of archival social media users in China at current stage, such as role unclear, role deviance and role discontinuity due to weak archival aware-ness,lack of interactions and archival profession-al skills.Combined with the current situation,it further points out the future visions of the devel-opment of archival social media users which are clear role definition, active role practice and role interaction, and diversified role types. To this end,it is necessary to adopt a role construction strategy integrating external guidance and inter-nal adjustment, including giving full play to the ac-tive role of archival users, improving archival in-formation literacy, broadening the action scope of archival social media users, and strengthening role adjustment of social media users.
