Structural Mechanism of the"Slash"Based on the Physical Study of U.S.Military Uniforms during World War Ⅱ
During World War Ⅱ,the U.S.military uniforms underwent an important transition from the traditional"Victorian structure"to the modern structure. In this study, the physical samples of U.S.military uniforms during the World War Ⅱ period are examined and analyzed through the method of mutual verification of physical objects and literature.By comparing image data and relevant literature, the shaped"slant placket"structure commonly used in U.S.military uniforms during World War Ⅱ was revealed, and the reasons for the formation of this struc-ture were further explored, and its institutional and cultural connotations were analyzed. The results showed there was a close connection between the formation of the shaped placket in the U.S.military uniforms and its institution-al and cultural heritage. After nearly a decade of steady development before and after World War Ⅱ,this structure finally laid down the prototype of the modern"slash"structure of the U.S.military uniform.
