There are two kinds of distance education modes in China—Open Universities and online education colleges affiliated to regular universities. Interviews and questionnaires are used to study the learning experience of students in the two types of institutions. The findings are that the level of overall learning experience in both types of institutions is significantly correlated with the level of online and offline learning experience. The difference of learning experience between the two types of institutions is not significant. The marginal effect of offline learning experience of Open University is larger, while that of online learning experience of online education college is larger.
