The MTI program places great emphasis on cultivating students' translation skills. MTI students' agency of doing translation practice plays a crucial role in improving their translation ability and the efficiency of translation practice. However, few studies were carried out in this field. This study adopts both quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis to explore the dimensions and levels of translation practice agency of MTI students. Major findings include: (1) Translation practice agency of MTI students has three dimensions: emotional identification, process control, and self-propelled force. (2) More than half of the MTI students have a low level of translation practice agency, and there are significant differences among the three dimensions of translation practice agency, with the self-propelled force dimension having the lowest score. This study provides important insights into innovating the research of translation practice and improving the quality of MTI students' translation practice.
