The Japanese Approach to Construction of Vocational Undergraduate Colleges——A Qualitative Study Based on the Vision Texts of 19 Specialized Vocational University
The role of vocational undergraduate education in deepening the reform of the modern vocational education system is becoming increasingly prominent. Focusing on the key content of the construction of vocational undergraduate colleges, Japanese specialized vocational universities present the unique school-running orientation and key development issues of vocational undergraduate colleges with a vision statement, and practiced the main purpose of cultivating high-level instant talents that resonate with economic development. The gist of its vision statement includes attaching importance to the capacity development of high-level technical skills personnel and cultivating industry leaders; exploring a new image of integrating professionalism and academics based on innovation and creativity; using professional characteristics as core competencies to contribute to social development at multiple levels; breaking through key institutional barriers to form an educational curriculum building path; maintaining creative tension between individuals and organizations to provide a platform for self-improvement; and enhancing education's concern for social responsibility based on the original purpose of life care. These notions are of great benefit to promoting the long-term development of vocational undergraduate colleges.
